Alumni Meet 2013

To take a walk down the corridors of nostalgia, MIT COE organized Rivedere’ – Alumni Meet 2013. The occasion was graced by almost 110 Alumni from last 7 batches, who had gathered from various parts of the country and outside the country. It was inaugurate by Principal, Dr. V.M. Wadhai on the evening of 30th March 2013 at the imposing newly inaugurated auditorium, Vivekananda Hall of MIT College OF Engineering. The Alumni Meet was also attended by Heads OF Department, faculties from various departments, Registrar Mr. A.R. Bhalerao and other office staff.
The meet began with the traditional lighting of lamp by the Principal, Alumni Coordinator Prof. Rashmi Phalnikar, and HODs of the Department, Students Council Chairman Ajay Mhalse, Deputy Chairman Akshata Jain and other Council Members.
The Alumni was welcomed by Deputy Chairman, Akshata Jain, who welcomed dignitaries on the dais and the guests. The alumni were addresses by the Dean Academics, Dr. S.B. Barve and Dean, R&D and HOD, Dept. of IT Dr. A. Hiwale. They updated the alumni about ongoing research work, NBA visit and other new initiatives taken up in the college.
Besides the two award of last year, which included MIT COE Rising Entrepreneur Alumni Award 2013 and MIT COE Distinguished Alumni Award 2013, a new award was initiated this year. This award MITCOE Alumni Contribution to College Award, commends the involvement in college activities and his/her contribution to the college. The award was presented to the awardees by the hand of the dignitaries on the dais.
1. MIT COE Rising Entrepreneur Alumni Award 2013: Mr. Deepen Dudhe, Alumni, Dept. of IT. HE has various activities under his belt but his most commendable are the entrepreneur activities that include the Chairmanship of Hotel Management Institute in Hinganghat, Dist. Wardha and Business Partner of Elite Employment Services Nagpur. Both these initiatives say good about his entrepreneur skills and marketing talent.
2. MIT COE Distinguished Alumni Award 2013: Mr. Aroh Welankar, Alumni, Mechanical Department . He has been active in cultural activities in college and has received the best actor awards at many state level open competitions. He has been honored consecutively for 2011 2012 2013 with the “Parangat Sanman” at Mumbai. He has acted in a couple of short films since then and shooting for a cinematic in “NATYARANGA” on ETV .
3. MITCOE Alumni Contribution to College Award: Ms. Akshata Jain, , Alumni, Dept. of IT. After passing out from college she has been in contact with the students and the faculty of Dept. of IT for conducting guest lectures and workshops. She has also been a great help in sourcing and organization various technical skill related activities in college. She also judged technical events at Telsa, a college event. Besides this she has also been a very active part of the Alumni Council for the last two years.
This was followed by Students Council Chairman Ajay Mhalse talk wherein he highlighted the many strategies that the council has thought of for contributing to the college. This plans include a body for sponsoring B.E. projects, a budding Engineer award and contribution to college in terms of internship for students and technical assistance during project work.
Principal, Dr. V. M. Wadhai, speaking on the occasion, underlined and praised the achievements of Alumni of MIT COE in all walks/spheres of life. He felt that it was matter of great pride that even though the alumni is young , and some of them have recently started working , they are doing work of great responsibility, succeeding in higher studies and more over carrying forward the message of MIT COE. Some of them are also budding entrepreneurs and providing jobs to others as well. He emphasized the need for further strengthening the linkage between the Alumni and MIT COE and current students and happy to know that the council is planning to streamline the activities.
The Inaugural session was followed by cultural program which comprised of Bharatnatyam Ms. Vibha, soft music by Ms. Sukhada and radium painting by Vivek Patil. This was followed by Vote of Thanks by Alumni Coordinator, Prof. Rashmi Phalnikar.
This was followed by dinner on the lawns of MIT COE where great happiness was observed everywhere with old students reliving their old memories with their batch mates, seniors and juniors and faculty members.
It was decided to strengthen the link between the current students and alumni for their support to current students in the area of training, placement, career counseling and any other help. It was also decided to raise funds to develop the student’s activity centre coming up in the campus and other activities. The Meet ended with promise to meet again and everyone bid emotional farewell to each other and their beloved MIT COE.
