MIT COE organized Rivedere- Alumni Meet 2012 on 18th February 2012 at Hotel Aurora Towers, Pune. The occasion was graced by almost 200 Alumni from last 6 batches, who had gathered from various parts of the country and outside the country. It was inaugurated by Principal, Dr. V.M. Wadhai on the evening of 18th February 2012 at the imposing halls of Hotel Aurora Towers. The Alumni Meet was also attended by Heads OF Department, faculties from various departments, T&P Officer Mr. Hemant Mali, Librarian Mr. Kumbhar, Registrar Mr. A.R. Bhalerao and other office staff.
The meet began with the traditional lighting of lamp by the Principal, Alumni Coordinator Prof. Rashmi Phalnikar, HODs of the Department, Students Council Chairman Ajay Mhalse, Deputy Chairman Akshata Jain and other Council Members.
The Alumni was welcomed by Prof. Rashmi Phalnikar, who expressed her happiness on seeing a large crowd. She highlighted the meaning of Rivedere’- which is a Italian phrase and means to meet again. The Students Council Chairman Ajay Mhalse introduced all members of Students Council as well as faculties involved with the Alumni Work. He informed the house of the initiation of two awards by MIT COE Alumni Association – MIT COE Rising Entrepreneur Alumni Award 2012 and MIT COE Distinguished Alumni Award 2012. This year the awards were given to Ms. Supriya PAtwardhan and Ms. Shreya Sangle. He also outlined many future activities to be taken up by the Association.
Later, speaking on the occasion, the Principal underlined and praised the achievements of Alumni of MIT COE in all walks/spheres of life. He felt that it was matter of great pride that even though the alumni is young , and some of them have recently started working , they are doing work of great responsibility, succeeding in higher studies and more over carrying forward the message of MIT COE. Some of them are also budding entrepreneurs and providing jobs to others as well. He emphasized the need for further strengthening the linkage between the Alumni and MIT COE and current students.
The Inaugural session was followed by cultural program which comprised of dance performance by our students and vocal music by alumni Shivam. Great warmth was observed everywhere with old students reliving their old memories with their batch mates, seniors and juniors and faculty members.
This was followed by Vote of Thanks given by Deputy Chairman Students Council Akshata Jain.
It was decided to strengthen the link between the current students and alumni for their support to current students in the area of training, placement, career counseling and any other help. It was also decided to raise funds to develop the student’s activity centre coming up in the campus and other activities. The Meet ended with promise to meet again and everyone bid emotional farewell to each other and their beloved MIT COE.
